The Challenge of Transitions

Transitions, something we all go through. According to the Modern Elder Academy, we go through 26 minor transitions and six major transitions in our lives.

Phew, that's a lot of transitions.

There are two challenges with transitions I'm thinking about today (there are way more than two, but for today, it's just two). The first is knowing what stage of transition we're in. When you're in it, it's hard to know what stage. The second is when we have overlapping transitions; with at least 32 transitions to deal with, we're almost always in overlapping transitions.

I know that right now I'm going through more than one.

First, there are the transitions with my health. At first, I thought I was in passage, but now, I think I'm back in anticiapation on what type of cancer and in ending/passage for my prostate cancer.

Then, there's the transition from being an expert to a seeker with my new project, The Long Strange Trip. With that, I'm definitely in passage.

Then there's my retirement from the wealth management and consulting business. There, I still have one foot in the game with consulting, but am in a new beginning with leaving my wealth management firm.
